Q: What is Detour?
A: Detour is the student ministry of Scotts Hill Baptist Church.
Q: What’s it like?
A: Everything about Detour has you in mind. From the moment you walk through the front doors you will think “this place is for me”. It’s a place to hang out with old friends and meet up with new ones. The gaming area is unbelievable with some of the coolest arcade games, the newest Xbox 360, pool tables, a basketball court, and Ipod stations. The café is a great place to get a quick bite before you experience a Detour worship service, which is always special.
Q: When does detour start?
A: Each Wednesday night the doors open at 6:15 for game room time. The Detour service last from 7:00 - 8:15. Then the game room is open again from 8:15 - 9:45. Detour is closed at 8:45pm.
Q: Can I show up late or leave early?
A: We know that many of you have busy schedules and some will be coming from prior commitments, such as practices. However, there are some guidelines that we need you to follow. Each Wednesday, our services for 7-12th grades start at 7:00pm, so we ask that you show up by 7:15pm or you will miss too much. Once you are in, we need you to stay until the end of the service at 8:15pm.
Q: Can I come if I am not in 7th-12th grade?
A: The short answer is “Sorry, but no”. Detour is a place created specifically for teenagers, so it’s important that you are one. If you’re too young, don’t sweat it - it won’t be long. If you’re too old, it’s time to say “goodbye”!
Q: What does it cost?
A: The only thing that costs money at Detour is the food. However if you are a first-timer, your meals on us. Every thing else is free. We set all arcade games on free play, Xbox 360. billiards, and ipods they’re all on us. Doesn’t cost you a dime! Now that’s a cheap date.
Q: How do I get to detour?
A: We are located just north of the Scotts Hill area. From Wilmington, take 17 north; turn right on Scotts Hill Loop Road (located right behind Poplar Grove Plantation). Turn left into the large parking lot of Scotts Hill Baptist Church and look for the big brick building in the back.
